Cable Glands Bartec

BARTEC cable glands are components used to safely and securely connect electrical cables to equipment, particularly in hazardous or demanding industrial environments. BARTEC is a well-known manufacturer specializing in explosion protection technology. Their cable glands are designed to maintain the integrity of the equipment enclosure and prevent the ingress of dust, water, and other contaminants, while also providing secure cable retention and strain relief.

  • Cable Glands for Increased Safety (Ex e): These are typically made of polyamide and used for inserting permanent cables and leads into electrical equipment with increased safety explosion protection. They often come with a blue cap nut for intrinsically safe circuits (Ex i).
  • Flameproof (Ex d) Cable Glands: Designed for hazardous areas, these glands prevent the propagation of flames. They are available for both armoured and unarmoured cables. Examples include the PNAF series (single seal for unarmoured cables) and the PAP series (double seal for armoured cables).
  • Barrier Cable Glands (e.g., PAPB, PNAFB, PAPDB): These glands have a sealing chamber that can be filled with a resin compound to provide an additional level of safety and prevent the passage of gas or pressure along the cable. They are crucial in applications where a high degree of containment is required.
  • Single and Double Compression Glands:
    • Single compression glands (e.g., PNA, PNAF): Provide sealing on the outer sheath of the cable.
    • Double compression glands (e.g., PAP, PAPD): Provide sealing on both the inner and outer sheaths of armoured cables, as well as clamping of the armour.

Hazardous Area Certified: A primary focus of BARTEC is explosion protection. Many of their cable glands are certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Ex zones) according to standards like ATEX and IECEx. These glands are designed to prevent the propagation of flames or sparks outside the enclosure.

Environmental Protection: BARTEC cable glands offer high levels of ingress protection (IP ratings), typically IP66, IP68, or higher. This ensures that the electrical connections are protected from dust and water, making them suitable for harsh industrial environments and outdoor applications.

Cable Retention and Strain Relief: They are designed to securely grip the cable, preventing it from being pulled or twisted, which could damage the conductors or connections.

Variety of Types and Materials: BARTEC offers a wide range of cable glands made from different materials like polyamide (plastic), nickel-plated brass, and stainless steel to suit various cable types, environmental conditions, and application requirements.

Different Cable Types: They manufacture glands for various cable types, including:

Unarmoured cables
Steel wire armoured (SWA) cables
Steel tape armoured cables
Lead inner sheath cables

Specific Applications: BARTEC cable glands are designed for use in diverse industries, including:

Oil and gas
Chemical and petrochemical
Pharmaceutical
Food and beverage
